- 25th October 2025 Emitremmus Walk
Saturday 25 October 2025 10:55
Half Moon
Emitremmus is a walk on the last day of British Summertime (Summertime backwards - geddit?).
Walk from the Half Moon Midhurst to Halfway Bridge Inn, Lodsworth.
Meet at Chichester bus station for the 10:55 Nº 60 bus to Pretoria Road, Midhurst; I will be there wearing shorts as usual and showing my CAMRA card, or contact me on 07801 867 718 ku.oc.rednoyeulb@yelood.L(). Be aware that Bus timetables can be a work of fiction; best to arrive early.
then the following itinerary:
Cross Midhurst Common on Rights of Way
Half Moon Midhurst 12:00 to 13:00 (although their pub sign shows a Waning Crescent Moon)
Swan Inn Midhurst 13:23 to 14:13
Cowdray Park Golf Club 14:45 to 15:34
(we go via Midhurst Castle with 42 steps down; you might want to bring poles. The rest of the walk is comparatively flat)
Hollist Arms Lodsworth 16:40 to 17:10
en-route we can look at the Queen Elizabeth 1st Oak in Cowdray Park - reputedly seeded in 1000AD (NOTE: here be tall ferns and brambles: Tick country; if you're concerned, wear long trousers that you don't mind getting caught in thorns)
Alternative route: some may want to visit Langham Brewery Tap; this is where we diverge, but you must get back to A272 by 18:29 for the last Nº 1 bus
Halfway Bridge Inn 17:32 to 18:17
Sunset is 17:50 so we may have to leave a bit earlier to cross the road safely.
Bring a good torch or headlamp.
I have 7 High-vis vests which I will bring, but if you have one, I recommend you bring it for this part of the walk.
Nº 1 bus to Midhurst 18:29 to 18:35
Back to Chi by 19:27
If you want you can download the route here: https://www.plotaroute.com/route/3080679
Or meet in any of the pubs en-route.
There are toilets en-route in Cowdray Park, and tea stops too, but you might want to carry a bottle of water. Benches for resting are plentiful. There are kissing gates, but no stiles. 42 difficult steps down at Midhurst Castle.
Don't forget: this is England; it can rain and be cold; bring appropriate clothing.
Food will be available for purchase in Half Moon and Cowdray Golf Club. Kitchens will be closed in other stops.
You can bring your dog, but there won't be anywhere to let them off the lead.
You will be asked to carry an I.C.E. card*
Total distance is about 5.7 miles. longest section is about 2.38 miles through Cowdray Park
*An I.C.E. card (I will give you blanks) lists the following: your name and address, name, address, phone number and relationship of your next of kin, your GP name, surgery address and phone number, any medications and/ or allergies and any other information for an emergency worker. NOTE it will not be acceptable to store this information on your phone; it needs to be accessible. You don't have to hand it over - it just has to be accessible
- Social to The Woodmancote
Saturday 8 November 2025 12:50
Woodmancote
8th November - Social to The Woodmancote meet Chi Bus Station 12:50 for 54 to Woodmancote, and even after the last social book-a-bus, I am still confident we can use Book-a-Bus for our socials, Flex-bus 96 to Chi Cathedral Depart 15:00, Arrive15:18 approx
I WILL NEED TCKTY BOOKINGS FOR THE FLEX-BUS RETURN TO CHI.
Remember booking on tckty is free, but it doesn't pay for the bus; it just means I have all the requests to travel in one place and can book the bus; not spread around in separate emails, WhatsApp, Messaging, Facebook and phone calls, and all the myriad CAMRA messaging Apps. Tckty also gives you a receipt so you can prove you asked for a seat on the bus.

(I've just tried this link; it does work, but you'll have to log in as it's a Members Only ticket NOTE that spaces on the Book-a-bus are limited; I will have to limit numbers to the first 9 responders.
