Laurie Dooley met Richard Earl, Jane Marston and Stephen Cox at Chi Bus Station for the 12:54 N° 54 bus. Unfortunately, the 12:54 was the bus that went via Westbourne, and departing late meant we got to Walderton Bridge about 15 minutes after we had expected.

The walk to the Barley Mow was uneventful with long-legs Earl leading. Dave Taylor was already at Barley Mow, having driven.

Good choice of ales: Hop Back Summer Lightning, Otter Amber, Harvey's Sussex Best, and Hog's Back TEA; unfortunately the Summer Lightning was not too good (Poor on NBSS) Harvey's Sussex was better (Good on NBSS).

Sitting in the sun-dappled garden with a cool breeze was a treat.

As the bus was late dropping us off, it meant we had less time in the pub than anticipated. Leaving at 14:36 for the 14:48 bus.

From our previous experience, we should have known the return bus would be late; a good subject for the meeting with Jess Brown-Fuller on Thursday 9th at the Bell: how bus unreliability affects the hospitality industry.

Returning to Chichester, we went to Chichester Inn for the passport stamp and where the Summer Lightning was much better (NBSS Very Good).

Messages to Heather Lawn and Chris Ray meant they could join us in the garden as did Dave Taylor.
