Saturday Social 29/08/26 Climping

Laurie Dooley met Jane Marston at Chichester bus station

tipping down with rain and the canopy at Chi BS leaks so you have to be careful where you stand.

500 bus left on time and the bus stop name we wanted to alight at has been changed from 'Crookthorn Lane' to 'The Oystercatcher' (Google maps, please note)

Banger's Café was a disappointment: Staff were unhelpful and aloof; food took an age to arrive; Pete Luff who came later was still eating when it was time to go

off to the Oystercatcher and trouble getting in; squelching up the verge to the car park; Doom Bar and Adnams Ghost Ship (NBSS Poor); the latter lacking condition

next to The Black Horse and no beer (Harvey's Sussex Best was being pulled through as we arrived, but it wouldn't be ready for ½-hour)

So, what now? - Get the bus to Wilkes Head; walking back up Climping Street, Pete noticed a hop bush, but they were not yet mature, so, might have to return soon for some home-brew

Wilkes Head was a welcome sight with Proper Job, Long Man Best Bitter, Flower Pots Bitter and Buster's Best (NBSS Very Good). We made a lucky choice here - it absolutely belted down and then the sun came out for the walk back to the bus.
